The 2019 Northern Touch Music Festival (NTFM) submissions are now open to singers, producers, rappers and DJ’s. All selected artists will receive a full conference pass which will include education and meetings with industry from around the globe.
In 2018 NTFM expanded to include free showcase performances at the Cube in Old Market Square, late-night after-parties and events taking place at venues in the heart of the historic Exchange District, along with pop-up DJ performances and mixers which will continue in 2019. The festival runs July long weekend in Winnipeg, Manitoba with local, national and international acts. Selected showcasing artists will have the chance to open for headlining acts and for artists from around the world. Last years headliners included Murs, Dai Burger, Toki Wright, and Dj Miss Brit. Not only will artists have the chance to showcase, they will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and receive feedback from industry delegates.
TFM is focused on innovation and changing the landscape of how hip hop is perceived. The past festival saw over 600 people at the downtown stage where a diverse audience, including 60% people of colour and 70% woman took in three nights of great entertainment. 2018 artists successes include • Malcolm-Jay has been running production workshops with non-profits consistently since the Festival, went on to play at BreakOut West 2018 (Kelowna) and was featured in Toronto at the Manitoba Music Export Showcase at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern (Toronto). • Hellnback hit #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown with The Spirit feat. Mob Bounce (Prod. David Strickland) • Sebastian Gaskin made his television debut alongside NTFM on Global Winnipeg. He received the 2018 Indigenous Music Award for the Ka-Kee-Nee Knoee Pewonee Okimow Most Outstanding Manitoban! Gaskin continues to evolve as a musician and is expected to release an EP in Spring 2019.
