Wolfville, NS {May 1, 2018} – Sound of Pop is pleased to announce they have signed a publishing deal with Newfoundland & Labrador based Country-Americana artist Chris Ryan. The deal includes Chris’ current catalogue, encompassing his self-titled debut album, as well as songs being written for his forthcoming release. Founded in 2001, Sound of Pop (SOP) is an award-winning Music Publishing and Master/Sync representation company with a current catalogue of close to 1000 songs by Canadian artists/songwriters including Chris Kirby, Fairgale, Keith Mullins, Brianna Gosse, Quote the Raven, Kat McLevey, Happy Beats, Candice Sand, FM Berlin, Coco Love Alcorn, Andrew Waite & the Firm and more. SOP also represents international acts Kidneythieves (US), Voltaire Twins (Australia) and Bettie Serveert (Netherlands). Sound of Pop’s Tim Hardy said: “I’ve known Chris since my days with SOCAN and was always impressed with his talent as a performer and songwriter. Chris has a natural ability to captivate an audience and connect with them through the heartfelt performance of his songs. I really love the honesty of his writing and am extremely excited to work with Chris on the new album. I can’t wait for the rest of Canada to see and hear this guy…….”.

Hailing from Canada’s East Coast, Newfoundland’s Chris Ryan has been entertaining crowds for over a decade. With his gritty voice, stellar guitar playing and high energy stage presence, Chris has become a mainstay in the Atlantic Canadian entertainment scene. Chris has had the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival, as well as share the stage with country music legends Toby Keith and Deana Carter, Canadian royalty Blue Rodeo, Great Big Sea’s Alan Doyle and Newfoundland folk favorites Fortunate Ones. In 2014, he began accompanying CCMA nominee & CMT “Big In A Small Town” finalist Quentin Reddy. While working with Quentin, Chris played stages at the Canadian Country Music Awards, East Coast Music Awards and appeared on the Bell Media show “Club One New Releases”, filmed & broadcast in both Newfoundland and Trinidad.

Since the release of his self titled debut album, Chris has caught the attention of the East Coast music industry, playing showcases during East Coast Music Week and Music Nfld. & Labrador Week, along with receiving nominations for “Country Recording of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”. Chris’ songwriting skills allowed him to be part of the 2016 ECMA SOCAN Song House, working with Nashville’s songwriting guru Ralph Murphy. This also led to Chris touring with Ottawa Valley artist Kelly Prescott from Canada to Tennessee and co-writing in Nashville. Chris was also recently announced as an East semi-finalist in the 2018 SiriusXM-CCMA Top of the Country Project.

Numerous singles from Chris’ debut album continue to receive regular rotation on radio stations in Newfoundland & Labrador and he’s been hard at work writing & co-writing songs for his follow-up album to be released in 2018. Chris Ryan said: “Couldn’t be happier to sign with, and have the support of, Sound of Pop. Tim and Glenn are two of the most tenacious professionals in the industry, who’ve built a roster of remarkable talent. I’m humbled to be added to the mix and really looking forward to 2018 and beyond.”
