At MusicNL we condemn racism in all its forms, whether subtle or overt. And with the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and Regis Korchinski-Paquet, and the violence against protesters that has followed, we must speak out. We must do better.
Let there be no doubt about our position: Black Lives Matter. We stand with those facing racism. And we join the rest of the world in mourning lives cut short. We grieve with their loved ones and communities in their loss. Hate has no place in our country. Hate has no place in our society.
MusicNL is committed to the principles of diversity and strives to include the voices and perspectives of groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to the preservation of MusicNL as a key player in the provincial music industry. MusicNL welcomes and encourages contributions and representation from women, youth, seniors, indigenous groups, people of colour, and the LGBTQ community in the membership and at the staff and board level.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
-Martin Luther King Jr.
