Zach Snow is a radio broadcaster based out of St. John's and is the host of the Celtic Wake Up, a two hour Newfoundland and Irish traditional folk music show. The show was recognized by the National Campus and Community Radio Association for Best Country or Folk show during the 2019 NCRA Awards ceremony.
Before the Celtic Wake Up, Zach was a freelance writer with the Muse. His main focus of articles were album reviews along with interviews of local artists such as Chris LeDrew, Kat McLevey, Meg Warren of Repartee, Fairgale, and others. in 2017, he became an active volunteer radio broadcaster on CHMR and his interviews include Rachel Cousins and Dave Penny.
The Celtic Wake Up premiered on CHMR 93.5 FM on May 8, 2018, initially airing on Tuesday Mornings from 8-10 AM before making a home on Monday's and has since expanded to other community radio stations. The show is a celebration of the best of Newfoundland and Irish traditional folk music along with bringing on local musicians to talk about upcoming projects and events, stories behind your favourite tunes, and so much more. The show have also had tribute show to honour performers who have made an impact on the fabric of the music of Newfoundland and Labrador like Ron Hynes, Ray Walsh, and Dermot O'Reilly. The list of guests that have appeared on the Celtic Wake Up include Shanneyganock, Rum Ragged, Rosemary Lawton, Fergus O'Byrne, Andy Irvine, and more.
