Jazz \ R&B \ Folk
Born and raised in Burnaby, British Columbia, Wade Tarling started playing piano at a young age and has been crafting his art for over 20 years. He received his Bachelor of Music and jazz Diploma from Capilano University and has studied with some of Canada’s finest artists, including Mike Allen, Chris Sigerson and Ross Taggart. In 2012, he had the privilege to attend a week long workshop with jazz greats, John Medeski, Billy Martin, Chris Wood and John Scofield. Wade still continues to take lessons and has studied in NYC with piano greats such as Jeremy Manasia, Barry Harris, Michael Eckroth and Matt Baker. He has also studied with pianist, Rachel Eckroth and accordionist, Alicia Baker.
In 2004, Wade boarded his first cruise ship. He worked as a pianist in the main-stage orchestra and continued for the next 4 years as the leader of the Moonglow trio. He has performed all over the world including, Vancouver, London, Hawaii, and New York City. Since 2009, Wade has been a contributing member to the St. John's music scene. He is a member of several bands including Hip Waders, the Bishops and Dana Parsons Project. In addition, Wade has been involved with several theatre companies including Best Kind Productions,Theatre St. John's, Artistic Fraud and Rising Tide Theatre. He was the music director for projects including Songs for a New World, Little Women, The Last 5 Years and Mary Walsh's Makin' Time with the Yanks.
Wade has been a studio musician for several albums and has recorded his own material with Hip Waders. Hip Waders first album "Why is this so Difficult?" took home the award for best jazz and blues recording in 2014. Their second album, Medusozoa, released in Sept of 2017, was also been nominated for the same award. He has an extensive repertoire of standards and a large collection of original compositions.
