Scott Downey has been playing guitar, singing, and song writing since he was a teenager growing up in Stephenville Crossing. His unorthodox style of guitar playing (plays a right handed guitar upside down) brought him attention in his hometown and his first rock band was Crystal Pyramid (1979) he then joined a band from Stephenville called "Turok" (1980) and began to tour the island of Newfoundland. The band played all the major clubs from Stephenville, across Central Newfoundland and then St. John's (MUN TSC, and the three Strands were popular places to play at that time). He decided to quit Turok and become a student at MUN. During that time he fronted another local band called "Spectrum" (1984-86) and the band opened up for "Gowan" who was just coming on the scene at that time. He then graduated from MUN with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree with a major in Psychology. He then went to Toronto and completed a Masters Degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto (OISE). He returned to St. John's in 1990 and began working as a Child and Adolescent psychologist at the Janeway Child Health Center in St. john's in 1991. He is now in his 28th year. Throughout all these years Scott has continued to hone his skills as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Check out some of his original songs on Reverb Nation and Sound cloud.
