Kelly McMichael / RENDERS
Alternative \ Rock \ Electronica
Kelly McMichael is a singer, songwriter, producer, keyboardist and guitarist from Peterborough Ontario, whom you may have seen playing locally as part of RENDERS, JOHN, Thelma & Louise, and is better known on the mainland for her work with Rouge, Gentleman Reg, Kelly McMichael and The Gloss. Kelly does a wide range of musical explorations from contemporary dance scores, to electro pop, to grunge, to jazz. Exploring feminist themes inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement and immersing herself into beat-production, Kelly created RENDERS as an alter-ego with a strong and resilient voice meant to act as a motivator for both herself and the audience. RENDERS includes lush layers of slick vocals over warms synths, deep grooves and dreamy effects with moments of dance-pop and psychedelic guitars. Listeners can expect to hear some nostalgic sounds from the 80's and 90's fused with modern R&B infused electro-pop. McMichael’s sultry vocals, strong melodies and powerful messages are the core of her projects.
Solo releases include an EP called "Liminal" under Kelly McMichael and The Gloss (2013), and a self-titled RENDERS EP (2015), both of which received positive reviews and attracted international praise. Stay tuned for all kinds of creative material to come.
