NewFound Talent Contest winners announced

Twillingate, NL: Ally Noseworthy, Noah Hamilton and Kaden White take first, second and third place in the NewFound Talent Contest, respectively.

Eleven young people from all over the province gathered at the Performing Arts Centre in Twillingate on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018. Over 100 people were in attendance for MusicNL’s annual NewFound Talent Contest, MusicNL Week Edition. The young people took the stage to showcase their impressive talents. The genres ranged from hip-hop to R&B, from pop to folk.

Aimed at being a catalyst for propelling the careers of young musicians in Newfoundland & Labrador, the purpose of the contest is to discover, develop, encourage and showcase young entertainers. The competition offers professional development prizes valued at over $6,000 to aid talented young performers so that they can take their songwriting and performing skills to the next level.

“The competition was fierce,” says Glenda Tulk, Executive Director of MusicNL. “Our judges provided the young musicians with expert mentorship and performance exposure. They had a hard decision to make.”

In the end, the judges awarded the third prize to Kaden White, age 17, a beat-boxer from Western Newfoundland who had the audience dancing in their seats. Second place went to Noah Hamilton of Corner Brook, who gave a soulful performance of an original song. First place was awarded to Ally Noseworthy, a 16 year old from Spaniard’s Bay. Noseworthy performed her original tune From Your Memory. Noseworthy expressed her excitement at the prospect of her prizes, particularly a music video, shot by Tom Cochrane Photography.

MusicNL would like to thank DC Design House, GNAudio, Blue Room Mixing, Long Range Mastering, Atlantic Disc and DVD, Tom Cochrane Photography, Feedback Music, Dipole Productions, Chris LeDrew Photography, and Long & McQuade for their support.
