ST JOHN’S, NL – The annual MusicNL/Bell Media Songwriting Challenge will take place June 2-4, 2017.
The Challenge is an opportunity for songwriters across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to hone their skills via a series of engaging workshops and panels with renowned industry professionals. The two-day event culminates in a Songwriters’ Circle that is open to the public on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
For the 2017 edition of the MusicNL/Bell Media Songwriting Challenge, MusicNL welcomes Toronto-based Songwriter/Producer/Musician Rob Wells and Singer/Songwriter Shobha. MusicNL also welcomes workshop leaders Chris Ledrew and Mallory Johnson to the challenge.
Marquita Walsh, of Streel, says, “I feel very lucky to have worked with Rob and Shobha. Their workshop was creative, supportive, and challenging. I left feeling confident and inspired about songwriting and with a brand new pop tune that I was super proud to have worked on. They are wicked!!” Past participants in the challenge have benefited greatly from the experience. St. John’s singer-songwriter Kellie Loder called the 2015 edition “life-changing,” and says it allowed her to realize her own potential as a songwriter.
