Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) & RADARTS Announce Canada 150 Performance Series
(Charlottetown, PE) – The Atlantic Presenters Association (APA), in partnership with RADARTS, and with support from Canadian Heritage, are thrilled to present the “Canada 150 Performance Series”. This year, Canada celebreate the 150th anniversary of confederation, a pivotal milestone for our country. In order to help commemorate this milestone, 20 artists, from all disciplines of the performing arts, will tour through Atlantic Canada over the next year bringing their experiences, stories and inspiration about the country and being Canadian.
“I am pleased to see the Atlantic Presenters Association taking an important role to help promote the themes of Canada 150 through song and art. Their vision reflects the Canada 150 priorities of inclusion and diversity, increasing understating between indigenous and non-indigenous communities, and engaging youth. This series is one of many activities taking place this year to remind Canadians where we’ve come from – and to get them thinking about where we’re going” says Sean Casey, MP for Charlottetown and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Heritage.
The Canada 150 performance series offers shows in both official languages and will see nationally and internationally recognized artists touring through out the region from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL to Caraquet, NB.
“People in our region may never have had the opportunity to experience these incredible shows in their own backyard without the Canada 150 Performance Series” says Angela Campbell, President of APA. “The partnership between APA and RADARTS under this project has opened a gateway into Atlantic Canada allowing our collective members to bring artists from all over the country into their communities so that they can share their stories, songs and their art as we all celebrate our nation’s rich history and diverse cultures.”
