Newman Sound Men’s Choir – World Premier of New Choral Work Written for Choir and Gongs

The piece features the voices of Newman Sound accompanied by the largest set of gongs in Atlantic Canada played by percussionist Rob Power. “It is a thrill and honour to premiere such a fantastic new work,” said Power, who is the Principal Percussionist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and Associate Professor at Memorial University. “Composer Dan Morphy has knocked it out of the park, combining the the brilliance of tuned gongs (3 octaves!) with the richness of men’s voices. It’s a fascinating combination, and definitely a first in Canadian music!”
