Kelly McMichael / RENDERS
Pop \ Rock \ Electronica
Kelly McMichael is a singer, songwriter, producer, keyboardist and guitarist from Peterborough Ontario, whom you may have seen playing locally as part of RENDERS, JOHN, Thelma & Louise, and is better known on the mainland for her work with Rouge, Gentleman Reg, Kelly McMichael and The Gloss and The Hidden Cameras. Kelly does a wide range of musical explorations from contemporary dance scores, to electro pop, to grunge, to jazz. Exploring feminist themes inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement and immersing herself into beat-production, Kelly created RENDERS as an alter-ego with a strong and resilient voice meant to act as a motivator for both herself and the audience. RENDERS includes lush layers of slick vocals over warms synths, deep grooves and dreamy effects with moments of dance-pop and psychedelic guitars. Listeners can expect to hear the influence of 90's trip-hop, 80's synths, and modern R&B infused electro-pop, but McMichael’s sultry vocals, wise lyrics and melodies are the core of her projects.
Solo releases include an EP called "Liminal" under Kelly McMichael and The Gloss (2013), and a self-titled RENDERS EP (2015), both of which received positive reviews and attracted international praise. RENDERS is embarking on an Ontario fall tour in celebration of pressing a limited run of the "She's Badass" EP, including tracks from the self-titled RENDERS EP and two previously unreleased bonus tracks. Stay tuned for all kinds of creative material being produced by this unique artist.
