Feile Seamus Creagh (Irish Newfoundland Traditional Music Foundation)
Féile (festival) Séamus Creagh is a festival of Traditional Music and Song from Newfoundland and Ireland.
It is named in memory of the late fiddle master Séamus Creagh. The festival features top performers, and indeed, tradition bearers from both the Newfoundland musical tradition, and its forebear, the Irish musical tradition.
Over the years, the festival has allowed Newfoundland and Irish artists to showcase and explore their musical connections. The result has been the formation of traditional groups, continuing opportunities in Ireland for our local musicians to showcase their talents, and the return of Irish performers to tour Newfoundland with local artists being heavily involved.
The event also has a weekend of instruction in traditional instruments and dancing, lectures on various aspects of the Newfoundland and Irish music tradition, along with a performance / question period with school children in the local area.
Feile Seamus Creagh is ran by a volunteer board of directors and is not for profit. The festival began in 2009 and will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Sept 2019.
