MUSICNL AWARDS VOTING PROCEDURES 2010/2011
Each Fall MusicNL hosts the annual MusicNL Awards. In August,
MusicNL sends a conference package to each member explaining the
nomination and voting process. Detailed below is a step-by-step
analysis of the procedure.
- A nomination form is sent to the members asking for nominations
from the members in each award category.
- The nomination form is returned to the MusicNL office by mail
or fax before the deadline indicated on the nomination form.
- The nominations are tabulated for the ballot. Being nominated
does not ensure you being on the ballot. Some categories have
multiple nominations and only the top nominees will be
included.
- The top nominees will be contacted by MusicNL and be requested
to accept or decline the nomination.
- Each member is responsible for mailing their ballot to DMK
Chartered Accountants in the stamped addressed envelope
provided.
- Deadlines are strictly enforced. Any ballots received after the
deadline will be destroyed.
Important things to remember:
- Student members are non-voting members
- Individual members get one vote
- Choral Groups/Non Profit Associations get one vote
- Bands get four votes (band-submitted nominations will be
multiplied by a factor of four unless otherwise indicated)
- Business members get two votes (business-submitted nominations
will be multiplied by a factor of two unless otherwise
indicated)
- Only one award is presented in any one category
- Additional award trophies can be purchased from the supplier at
the member's expense.
- A list of eligible releases will be provided to the membership
as a guide
- It is the responsibility of the member to inform MusicNL of
their release so that they may be included on the list
- There is no fee to nominate or to be included on the
ballot
- Only MusicNL members in good standing may nominate or vote
MusicNL has formed an ethics committee to oversee the
nomination process. Any perceived irregularity will be challenged
by the committee and could result in a removal from the ballot.
Withdrawal of the ballot is at the sole discretion of the board of
directors.
